Yea you're definitely right about it being incredible. I think it also proves she hasn't been typecast because if she was, he never would have contacted her for a role that she has no experience in playing. It's completely different from anything she has played before.

Yeah, great point! I am so excited about her role on Dexter. Jennifer Carpenter has already raved about her performance, calling her the best of the very best and saying she is so good. Carpenter is a wonderful actress herself, so that is a tremendous complement.

Now that Golden Boy is coming to and end and Yvonne's participation in Dexter season 8 is unknown, I thought it would be fun to revive this thread. I think Yvonne's 2012 exceeded everyone's expectations and her career went in directions that surprised people.

With Golden Boy and Dexter, Yvonne has established herself as a very serious and versatile actress who can play anything. The rave reviews she received for Golden Boy and the exposure she has gotten from Dexter should lead to some interesting offers.

I feel that Yvonne has the potential to be a huge star, because she is not only extremely talented, but also extremely likable. There are a lot of actresses out there in movies right now who are great actresses, but I think Yvonne has the "it factor" plus of course she's beautiful.

So I think there are a few different directions her career could take in the next couple of years...

1. The serious movie actress route where she would do character driven, and even independent movies.
2. The movie star route where she would take roles in box office friendly movies (blockbusters, rom coms, etc).
3. A combination of 1 and 2.
4. Sticking with television and doing Dexter or another series.
5. A mixture of movies and TV.

She has the potential to be in blockbusters film (I would love to see her in the next StarWars for example). But I think she can play more complex and interesting characters in TV shows. Besides, as a TV actress we'll be able to see her more often (more screentime).

I totally agree with you Caihn. I'd love to see her be the lead in a high quality cable series like Dexter, Homeland, Breaking Bad, etc. TV has better roles for women than movies do overall, and like you said, it would give her a chance to play really complex characters. Plus, getting to see her more often is a huge plus. Cable TV is a great option because filming would only take around 5-6 months per year, so she'd still have time for other projects.

Major movie roles. I personally would like to see her in kick ass action movies

There's no word yet on her next project. There were rumors about her doing some film in Turkey, but so far there's no confirmation on that.
