I decided to make a top 10 Yvonne performances on Chuck, ranked from #10 to #1

10. The Honeymooners- One of her greatest comedic performances on the show. Her Texas accent was hilarious (she sounded like my sister's mother-in-law ya'lls). She also had some great romantic moments with Chuck.

9. The Cougars-Yvonne killed it as the awkward young Sarah and I love the scenes she had with Nicole Ritchie.

8. The Imported Hard Salami: Yvonne showed great screwball comedy skills in this one, with her hilarious acting in the trunk scene, followed by the "end of the world" kiss. Her awkward reaction and line delivery was awesome. Plus, there were two other amazing moments: Sarah fake crying after being "dumped" by Chuck and "seducing" Lester before scaring him off.

7. The Break Up- Yvonne gives another non-verbal acting masterclass here.

6. The Best Friend- Yvonne had two really moving scenes here: the scene where the car exploded and Sarah thought Chuck had died. The scene at the end gets me teary eyed every time. When she tells Chuck that she doesn't have any friends and Chuck said "yeah you do." And then the looks she gives him when they hold hands. Soooo good.

5. The Truth-One of Yvonne's greatest non-verbal acting scenes came at the end of the episode. I think that's when people realized she was a fantastic actress.


I have a FOUR Way tie for #1:

The Baby. In certain ways this may have been her best performance. She was soooooo good here. The rage she had at Ryker, the protectiveness she showed towards the baby, and the emotion she showed at having to abandon her mother (and again when they were reunited) was amazing.

Phase Three- Do we really need an explanation? She threw in everything, including the kitchen sink! Her breakdown at the end when she found Chuck was amazing.

Sarah/The Goodbye- A lot of people were upset that Sarah lost her memories, but this plot twist provided Yvonne with her most chilling and amazing performance we have ever seen. Yvonne did everything here: from losing her memories, but still pretending to remember Chuck and her friends (amazingly challenging task), her rage at Quinn for destroying her life, and her slowly regaining her memories back through the two episodes, she was brilliant. And the scene where she watches the video of herself talking about how she loves Chuck may have been her best acted scene of the series. Bravo!

Yvonne's performance on Chuck has to be one of the most criminally underrated performances ever. I wish the Emmy's would allow an actor to submit in the opposite genre of their series, because Yvonne could have contended there.

Interesting read! The thing I love about her performance in The Goodbye is that she suddenly turns perfectly into the old Sarah, she developed as a character through the series and the in just a blink of an eye she acts precisely as the old Sarah.

Interesting read indeed. Both Yvonne and Zach's performances was underrated IMO, they freaking killed the show. Such a good chemistry! For me both of them killed every episode with their acting skills even though 12 episodes in season 3 made me want to quit the show.

But my favorite episode is The Honeymooners, Phase Three and The Suitcase and Yvonne did freaking incredible outstanding job in all of them. Yvonne did amazing job in Goodbye too, but since I just dread that episode I couldn't get pleassure of her work there so those 3 episodes would go highest. Then as you say, The Truth-One, Best friend and especially in the The Break Up the yet again showed her incredible outstanding top notch talent.

I agree that their chemistry was off the charts. Had Fedak/Schwartz cast any other actors, the show probably would have been cancelled in season 1. Have they ever revealed who else auditioned for Chuck and Sarah? I'd really like to find out, because it would be really interesting.

The most extraordinary thing Yvonne does is she gives amazing performances even when the writing is mediocre or even terrible. She often had to do this on Chuck and also did a great job in The Canyon and Killer Elite, despite bad writing in the first and under development in the second. Even on Headland she was pretty darn good despite it being a bad soap opera!

Most actors rely so much on the dialogue that they cannot overcome bad writing. Examples include Natalie Portman in the Star Wars prequels and Rachel McAdams in Time Traveler's Wife, Sherlock Holmes, Midnight in Paris and The Vow (some of those roles were just underwritten). Yvonne adds depth to characters that was never even in the script. That's why she is so good!

The best thing about Yvonne and Zach was how natural they were. They didn't seem like they were acting and I felt like I was watching two real people. Hats off to them for being so amazing. I also can't wait until I, Frankenstein (11 months to go!)Hopelly Dexter and I, Frankenstein will open a lot of doors for Yvonne, because she deserves to get really great movie roles.

her acting in this episode was a-mazing, it was a Sarah-centered episode and I loved her performance, the way she took care of the baby and her mum, how she wanted a different, normal life for her, it was very emotional

About the Chuck part I really cannot agree with you, I didn't like any of them really and none of my friends did either AS a partner the other made out with, or for Chuck pretty much was the girl in a start of relationship where it should've been Sarah instead.

I didn't love Bryce, but I didn't hate him either. Hannah was really the most pointless character no doubt in the whole show of Chuck.

I shipped Charah so hard so why would I like cheer when they're possbile making Charah as a couple long gone. That said I didn't "hate" anyone except Shaw, but no I didn't like when Sarah kissed Cole. When Chuck kissed Hannah or Lou etc. Because I wanted the girl to be Sarah and that it would be Chuck instead of Cole. They hadnt commited before so how much I hated seeing Sarah kissing Cole or Chuck kissing Sarah eventhough I certinly dind't like it because like I said wanted it to be Charah instead, it didn't make me hate either Chuck or Sarah and the guy/girl the did it with, well expect Shaw then.

But yeah, I don't shit talk any of the other characters expect Shaw, since Shaw is really a character you cannot feel anything else then hate for. And for me it was many reasons to dislike the guy.

Sounding like a crazy shipper? That's fine, since ever since the pilot with their incredible chemistry I wanted them to end up together. That's why I had such a hard time watching 12 first episodes in season 3 and for the same reason I've skipped them when I've re-watched the show and will for sure do it next time I watch it again.

And I guess this post dosen't really have any points since I didn't hate other characters then Shaw and jsut thought that Hannah was totally pointless, I know noone that liked Hannah because it for me made no sense to even bring her in for two-three episodes. But oh, it feels great to talk Chuck anyways, haven't watched a full episode since Febuary so may be a bit wrong about somethings.

When NBC’s nerd-spy comedy Chuck looked doomed in 2009, fans embraced commercialism to keep the show afloat. Rather than launch a letter-writing campaign at the end of the second season, die-hard viewers appealed to a higher power: one of the show’s advertisers. Under operation Finale & Footlong, Chuck’s “nerd herd” flooded Subway shops to buy sandwiches. Even the show’s star Zachary Levi got into the action, leading 600 fans to a shop in Birmingham, England.

Amazingly, the ploy worked. Subway liked the business so much that it struck a deal with NBC to sponsor Chuck’s third season, complete with increased product placement. Did fans love seeing the show saturated with sandwiches? Maybe not, but watching Chuck down a foot-long was better than not watching Chuck at all.
