“That’s my story & I’m sticking to it.”

Dexter knows the truth. He knows Hannah’s story. The real story.

Hannah is a killer, too.

She’s evasive …but Dexter knows the whole story. How Hannah took a knife and, in a rage, repeatedly stabbed the woman – sitting on her, holding her down – losing her grip on the knife, and deeply cutting her own hand.

Hannah killed the woman and left her DNA in the commingling of blood on the victim.

Hannah’s a killer…with immunity. “A girl’s gotta protect herself.”

So while Dexter knows the truth…and can probably prove it with the “passive spatter stain in the dress” …Hannah is protected.

This is the first week of real Yvonne participation, with more than a few minutes on screen. She captures the essence of Hannah is so many great expressions.

When she’s identifying the evidence from the kills, she projects the fear and helplessness she’s using as Hannah’s cover.

When Dexter tells the story of how Wayne killed the couple, the grimace on her face is priceless.

And, when Dexter reveals to her that he knows the truth…that her story is a lie …she delivers a smile that exudes confidence.

Classic Yvonne. Those looks are so expressive and so insightful.

This leads to the inevitable discussion of the understated attraction of Dexter & Hannah. Hannah is more overt as she asks Dexter if he will be at the dig. He is more reserved as he replies, “I hope so.”

It’s a cat & mouse game, with Hannah appearing more interested in Dexter. One telling statement by Hannah, at the dig: “Look at us, talking blood & gore like we’re on a date sharing our first sexual experiences.”

The innuendo is strong. Equally as strong is Dexter’s reaction to realizing Hannah’s only helping them because she has immunity. “You don’t care. The DA gave you immunity…”

Immunity for “any crime committed with Wayne” …which becomes the plot hole for the rest of the Hannah story. How will Dexter respond to this information? That is for next week.

There’s another point that I find interesting, and one that has bothered me from the first release of episode photos: the black bra look. It was one thing when she wore it in the first of her episodes, with the lace beige top…but here we have it again, with the red top & exposed black bra straps. Initially, it just created an unconventional aspect to her persona. But looking deeper, it’s an amazing analogy for the character of Hannah: underneath it all, close to the skin, there’s a darkness about Hannah. It’s there to see but just hidden enough.

So next week we see more of the Dexter/Hannah story…and learn more about who’s playing whom. Hannah can stick to any part of her story with Wayne…but what about the rest of her story.
